I’ll be operating as your own personal researcher, data scientist, data analyst, and tech journalist all rolled up into one.

With your help, we should be able to reach 100% worldwide subscribership within 34 newsletters if we double each time. Seems doable.

Well… at least the math checked out. 🤷‍♂️ 2 34 ~ 8.6 billion population 🌎️

The White House is keeping busy getting ready to release an executive order next week and Citibank is salivating over Gen AI capabilities at its company.

Let’s get into it with…

White House to impose rules on AI but they may lack teeth

President Biden is set to be issuing an AI-centric executive order next week. It’ll aim to guide the development of AI in the U.S. and encourage it to be done responsibly to curb potential job disruptions and other areas of concern to our economy.

Our thoughts:

  • They’re genuinely trying to help add safeguards with this rapidly evolving set of technologies.

  • The efforts may be somewhat artificial though since previous White House AI efforts have lacked enforcement power.

Citibank grants 40,000 coders access to Gen AI tools

First slowly, then all at once.

Ernest Hemingway

This famous quote was about someone going bankrupt which is something Citigroup has no intention of doing.

The sitch:

Citigroup ran a 250-person pilot program to test out the use of Generative AI.

The results?

40,000 of its coders are getting granted access to these tools.

That’s a lot of predicted productivity gains. 💪

AUTOMATIONS & ANTICS

AUTOMATION ALLEY

Gradio Goes Serverless!

No more server concerns when launch your Gradio applications.

The sitch:

  • With Gradio-Lite’s use of Pyodidie, a Python runtime for WebAssembly, you can now execute your Python code in the browser.

  • All batteries may not be included though as Pyodide doesn’t play well with all traditional Python packages you might know and love.

Benefits of Using Gradio-Lite:

  1. Serverless Deployment

  2. Low Latency

  3. Security and Privacy

ANTICS AVENUE

Too Little, Too Late

JoJo’s “Too Little, Too Late” is playing in my head. Why?

  • Anthropic, Microsoft, and OpenAI made a joint announcement stating they’ve created an initiative for a $10M AI Safety Fund.

  • With the salary costs of AI talent, hopefully, the people leaning in are pro bono and willing to open their wallets a little more. Otherwise, that money is going to fly away pretty quickly. 💸

Personal Copilot: Train Your Own Coding Assistant

If you’re looking for a weekend project look no further!

  • You can create your very own coding assistant but be forewarned this isn’t for the faint-hearted.

  • This tutorial clocks in at over 3,000 words and introduces a lot of technologies.

It’s well detailed but you’ll want a cup (or pot) of coffee. ☕️
